Empowerment

For your reading pleasure, a true story from my days at Hamilton.

Playroom. A large space -- perhaps 15' by 30' -- filled with toys, games, beanbag chairs, arts and crafts stuff, twenty kids aged 2 - 7, and three often bewildered ... let's call us guardians.

Sometimes, when kids first come to the playroom, they haven't yet perfected their sharing methodology. Two girls want to play with the stroller. Patty is 3 years old, Suzie is 5.

Suzie puts dolly into stroller and takes her for a walk. Patty flies at the happy pair at 25mph, bulldozing various older and larger children en route, grabs the stroller. The walk, apparently, is supposed to be happening in the opposite direction.

Suzie: Give it back!
Patty: No! No!
Suzie: I'll tell your mommy!
Patty: I'll tell your mama, bitch!
